Books On My Fall 2019 TBR
Several of these were listed in another recent TTT–sorry for the duplication.
I’ve already started on two of these and both, so far, are good. As I said in that other TTT post, I am conerned about how JoJo Moyes will pull off depression era Kentucky in Giver of Stars, and have it all ring true. An added concern with that book is that it’s the second book to come out this year on the Bookwomen–the librarians on horseback. It bugs me when “somehow” two people have the same idea at the same time and they are published at roughly the same time. I’m equally concerned about The Other Windsor Girl. Tricky to do that without sounding like you are reading Debrett’s aloud into the record. Equally tricky not to have it peopled with cardboard figures cut out of [ga, sick of the word!] “iconic” photos. While I’m not encumbered with having The Crown tv show as my idea of the royals, I still wonder if this book can capture Margot to my satisfaction.
What about you? What books are you looking forward to this season?
Check out the rules at That Artsy Reader Girl and join in next week!
I adore the cover for The Dutch House. Hope it’s good!

Some good choices – I’ve read the Chevalier and have the Patchett on reserve at the library. The Louise Penny will be interesting because it seems to mark a watershed in the series. I’ve heard mixed opinions about it

Louise Penny–I’m still struggling with the death of the superb reader on the audiobooks. Robert Bathurst was wonderful in Downton, but he is not Gamache!

I’m a little skeptical about the Jojo Moyes book too (although I still want to read it!). I’d like to read the Tracy Chevalier book as well. Enjoy your fall reading!

Waiting till I hear more feedback on A Single Thread, but TC is usually a solid interesting read. You bring up excellent points about Giver Stars and The Other Windsor Girl. I view Margot as kind of a badass and fear she’ll come out a mess. Definitely interested though.

I definitely want to read The Dutch House and need to start catching up with books by Tracy Chevalier – I loved The Girl with the Pearl Earring, but that was so long ago!

I’ve read most of Tracy’s books and have liked all but that one character in the Orchard book. I’m listening to the new one this week.
