Introvert’s dream holiday dinner

The Thanksgiving Book Tag was created by Erin & Becca but, I learned of it through A Book Wanderer in this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post!
It works like this: for each Thanksgiving dish you choose a representative book. Fun? I think so! I only altered one question.
Bookish Thanksgiving
1. Bread- What book is purely fluff, and has no real plot line?
Hint: Prince George is totally written out!
[I have not reviewed this one yet]
2. Turkey- What book made you want to fall asleep?
ANY of these, except possibly A Christmas Carol
[Not from this year’s reading]
3. Gravy- What book makes the whole series worth reading? Hester makes her choice. So much wonderful, then back to the grit of this series.
[Not from this year’s reading] [I do not review this series]
4. Stuffing- What book is stuffed full of action scenes? Snap, crackle, pop, rice crispies! This one was exciting!
My review
5. Mashed Potatoes- What book looked good, and then wasn’t?
I think I’m too old for this one. Threw it back. Somehow I don’t equate a teenager saying “Can I come in your mouth” with Award-winning literary fiction.
6. Cranberries- What book has the sweetest romance? I almost picked Red, White, and Royal Blue again though.
My review of Meet Me at the Museum
7. Corn- What’s the corniest book you’ve ever read this year? A jar of sourdough starter with its own music? Pretty corny–cheesy even, but it was fun.
My review
8. Green beans- What book is too long and needs to be shortened? Les Mis–well worth the read, but some cuts could have happened and nothing would have been lost.
[Not from this year’s reading]
9. Pumpkin Pie- What book do you read to get out of a reading slump? [Newest in the series] [I do not review this series] A “visit” with these ladies always perks me up. I only do the audiobooks though–love the reader’s “voices” for each character.
10. Dog/Cat- What’s your favorite Thanksgiving food that you would steal from the table? i.e. A candidate for my favorite book read in 2019
My review
Food I would steal? Olives!

That is exactly how I felt about Les Mis! I just had a friend ask me why it took me forever. I told her so much of the book was drug out – endlessly long descriptions of unimportant things. But, there were lots of hidden gems amongst it all, and the ending was so beautiful!

So much fun! If I had time I’d go back and do this, but I’ll be at a family lunch and then family dinner. Thanks for visiting my Top 10 at Lisa Loves Literature earlier!
