Vacation Books II

Five years ago, I posted my Best Vacation Books post. Today, I’m giving an update!

A best friend loans his house in Cornwall and vials of a new substance that lets wild things happen! House on the Strand by Daphne Du Maurier, currently $3.99 for Kindle. My review is here.

Akin is up there with Second Hand Lions in my approval! And old guy, an unwanted kid, a fabulous adventure. Just read it. Akin: A Novel by Emma Donoghue.

My review is here.

Two Steps Forward: A Novel by  Graeme Simsion and Anne Buist. Ever dreamed of making a pilgrimage? Walking the Camino? Here’s the book for that!

My review is here.

Summer House With Swimming Pool: A Novel by Herman Koch. A beautiful house on the Medetaranian, a famous film director and his generations-younger girlfriend. What could go wrong when a friend with two teenage daughters joins the house party?

My review is here.

Barefoot at the Lake: A Boyhood Summer in Cottage Country by Bruce Fogle is probably my favorite vacation book ever. It’s so tender and sweet that I want to re-read it and I’ve sworn off re-reading.

My review is here.

Two others that are vacation-ish or vacation-like

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren.

My review is here.

Lake of the Ozarks by Bill Geist.

My review is here.
