Mount TBR 2021 Challenge

This year I’m not doing as many challenges, but this one fits one of my own goals–to read some of the books I own on my Kindle or in print. While all may not have made it to my Goodreads TBR, all are on my “mental TBR” so they count, right? [Skip to the end of the post for the Challenge rules.]

Here are a few of the books I have waiting, both new to my shelves or Kindle and those that have hung around for…well, let’s not do that math, ok?

And here are a few forgotten on my Goodreads TBR (which I do weed all the time)

Mount TBR 2021 Challenge (copied from Books Please)

Books must be owned by you prior to January 1, 2021. No library books.  Any reread may count, regardless of how long you’ve owned it prior to 2021, provided you have not counted it for a previous Mount TBR Challenge.  Audiobooks and E-books may count if they are yours and they are one of your primary sources of backlogged books. You may count “Did Not Finish” books provided they meet your own standard for such things, you do not plan to ever finish it, and you move it off your mountain [give it away, sell it, etc. OR remove it from your e-resources].

There are a number of different levels to choose from:

Pike’s Peak: Read 12 books from your TBR pile/s    My choice!
Mount Blanc: Read 24 books from your TBR pile/s
Mt. Vancouver: Read 36 books from your TBR pile/s
Mt. Ararat: Read 48 books from your TBR pile/s
Mt. Kilimanjaro: Read 60 books from your TBR pile/s
El Toro*: Read 75 books from your TBR pile/s (*aka Cerro El Toro in South America)
Mt. Everest: Read 100 books from your TBR pile/s
Mount Olympus (Mars): Read 150+ books from your TBR pile/s

Anyone else want to join in? I do not view my TBR as “must-read”–it is simply a list of books that have attracted my notice. I cannot remember titles so this saves my sanity when I need something new to read.

  1. It’s interesting how different people interpret TBR. I apply this term to books I own but have not yet read – anything that has “caught my eye” goes onto a wishlist. It seems your approach is that you don’t have to own the book to class it as TBR?

  2. I am aiming to read all the books I had on my physical to be read shelf and everything I have from NetGalley up until 31 Dec 2020 by the end of this year. But no idea if I will manage that. I have other Kindle books but I’m being kind to myself! Good luck with yours!
