First, A Few Books Set In New Orleans

My review of Dollbaby was lost in a crash of my old blog, but on Goodreads I gave it 4 stars and still remember the story so that’s a great recommendation! My reviews of  The Yellow House and of Five Days at Memorial,

  1. What an awesome post. Of course I have never made it to Mardi Gras, but it is still a fun concept. We do have shove Tuesday or better known as pancake Tuesday and Pączki day, which is when we eat those calorie laden treats.

  2. We’re having pancakes tonight for Shrove Tuesday. We’ve never gone to Mardi Gras in New Orleans, but our church (now closed, alas) used to do a Mardi Gras celebration every year, which is where I got the beads I used in my bookstack photo for this week’s TTT.

Your collection of children’s Mardi Gras covers is great! They look like such fun. And you did a terrific job choosing green, yellow, and purple covers for the TTT prompt. I almost used Dick Francis’s Bolt for one of my green books, but decided to focus on my fantasy collection instead.

    1. Awe Thanks! I’ve got a big box of Madis Gras beads a friend gave me for Operation Christmas Child boxes, but I don’t put a lot of that stuff in . She collected them over years of attending with her family (who are mostly still in the New Orleans area, she’s “up north”).

  3. No, I’ve never celebrated Mardi Gras, we just have pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. Some people used to have pancake races, but not where I grew up, so I have never seen one or taken part – just seen some on TV – also Shrove Tuesday football in the streets.

Those book covers are lovely – such vibrant colours!

  4. I loved everything about your site today: talking about Mardi Gras, the beautiful book colors and reading the titles, and the King cake. I’ve eaten King cake but have never made one. My husband is a pancake lover!
