Seasonal reading–choosing books set in the season of the year in which you find yourself (or the season of life can be fun, too) is another way to enjoy the glory of each part of the year. Shown here are books I’ve read, or have on my TBR, with “summer” in the title. These great books should help us all get in the mood for the hot mess that is summer. (Well, most years it is a hot mess here in the Ohio River Valley, but the weather this year has been so weird who knows? Maybe we’ll still need thick hoodies in August!) Anyway, here are 10 novels (I’ve shown both the US and the UK cover/title of one book) and one fun nonfiction summer travel memoir. Some of these I read before blogging began, or I had reviews that were lost on my old blog.
Here are the links to those I’ve reviewed on this blog:
Narrowboat Summer/Three Women and a Boat by Anne Youngson
Wild Horses of the Summer Sun by Tory Bilski (nonfiction)
The Summer Before the War by Helen Simonson [scroll down to the review]
Mrs. Lorimer’s Quiet Summer by Molly Clavering
Summer Wedding for a Cornish Midwife by Jo Bartlett
Three Summers by Margarita Liberaki
Here are links to those on my TBR
Lost Summers of Newport by (multiple authors)
One Italian Summer: A Novel by Rebecca Serle
In A Summer Season by Elizabeth Taylor
Tomorrow I’ll be sharing my favorite books of read in the last decade of summers! Do you have a favorite summer-titled book? Are any of these ones you’ve read? Do you have any of these on your TBR? Leave me a comment or a link to your post.
Fun!
I had to check: according to Goodreads, I have read 7 books with the word summer in the title.
The most recent, and excellent: https://wordsandpeace.com/2020/04/11/book-review-summer-of-reckoning/

I am using the word Summer in the title for my 20 Books of Summer. I have over 30 books on my TBR with summer in the title. According to Goodreads, I have read 65 books with the word summer in the title. It’s hard to pick one favourite.

I’ve only read/reviewed three books with summer in the title – Mrs. Lorimer is one, plus, The Summer Country by Lauren Willig, and Summer on the Bluffs by Sonny Hostin. I want to read that Lost Summers of Newport but wasn’t approved for the ARC…

i don’t recall ever reading a book with the word summer in the title. If I did then it was many, many, many years ago when I never kept any records and clearly it didn’t leave any impression on me. Nor it seems do I even own any books including that word. What does that say about me as a reader I wonder???

Lol. I only know of mine because I track my reading. I’d say you are a 100% normal reader with better than average taste in books!

From your list, I read The Summer Before the War which I liked. I checked on GoodReads and see that I have read and reviewed 12 books that have Summer in the Title. I read a lot of books but hate to write reviews so I looked through my huge list of books I’ve read and need to write reviews for but found only one with Summer in the title.
