Wonderful book blogger Kaggsy’s Bookish Ramblings is hosting #ReadIndies month. I’m in, I think. I love the idea of independent publishing, but I’m a little lost on where to start. I Googled it, and came up with first a publishers and then a book I’d recently added to my Goodreads TBR. Guess what? The library had it available in audio. So, no spoilers! It looks like I’m in! Happily, two favorites of mine, Dean Street Press and Persephone Books are both Indies! That sure helps! I have several of each on my Kindle or bookshelves.
No, I haven’t forgotten my reading “ideas” for this year. This is something I want to do!
According to the intro post:
There are only two rules:
- Reading material (whichever format, whichever language) must come from publishers who are currently operating as independents.
- Self-published titles are not eligible for this event.
Post Book Reviews HERE.
How about you? Do you read from indie publishers? Feel free to leave me a comment with your favorite publishers or indie books–or link to your own posts. I’ll happily go read them!
I’ve have some from Pushkin Press and Pluto Press on my review pile, both of which qualify.

I’ll have a look at those publishers. This is new territory for me. Even though I’m a librarian, I’ve never done acquisitions or purchasing or worked in a public library.

I went through my shelves and found LOADS! I have read one already, a review copy from a new indie, and then I laid out 13 more I can choose from, although I then realised another publisher I have a few from counts as an indie. It’s a fun one to do and allows me to pick books from all through my TBR with abandon!
