Six in Six from my Goodreads or Amazon To Be Read lists!

What is Six in Six?

My 2021 Six in Six post. If you are unfamiliar with this half year book list, click the highlighted words and go to my post or go here, to the originator’s post at The Book Jotter.

My Goodreads TBR

On August 6, 2009 I added Henry James’ The Bostonians to my Goodreads TBR. In spite of constant weeding, the list is up to 2693 entries. I will, of course, never read them all. If it was easier to delete things from the list, it would be much smaller. I get tired of the slowness of the process and quit deleting. I cannot recall book titles when I need a book to read so this list is an amazing help. I also have a list on Amazon, though usually they overlap, there are occasionally books that only make it on to one list or the other.

While compiling my 2021 Six in Six post, it occurred to me that it would be fun to do this for my TBR as well (you are correct–I have no life). So, I consulted the 6 in 6 topics list, and gave thought to any I wanted to add, and here were are–a new Six in Six.

Six Authors New To Me

Six Nonfiction Relating to WWII

Six Biographies of Writers

Gene Stratton Porter wrote stories set in nature, but with strong characters.

Six Foodie Books

Six Nature-Related Books

This was tough–both Beatrix Potter and Anna Botsford Comstock were writers. Should they go in the writers biographies? Or here in nature?

Six Books About Librarians or Libraries

Six in Six 2021

Thanks to Jessica at Bookworm Chronicles, whose post alerted me to it being time again for this fun meme. And, of course, thanks to Jo at The Book Jotter for creating Six in Six. Essentially it works like this: after 6 months of reading share 6 books in 6 categories. You can go to Jo’s post linked in the previous sentence to read all the great categories.

One more thing, to make it harder I always TRY not to repeat a book. Some years that isn’t possible. This year I succeeded. You can see two additional categories at the end in the form of links to other posts on this blog.

Six From the Non-Fiction Shelf

Six books from authors I know will never let me down

Six authors I have read before

Six physical books I have read

Six books I read on my Kindle

Six books I must mention that don’t fit nicely into any category

This is such a fun meme! Thank you Jo at The Book Jotter for hosting!

Thanks to The Bookworm Chronicles for alerting me!

You can see all the rules and choices for this meme here.

This year was hard!! I have ‘only’ 41 books to work with–usually, I do this without repeating a title. Without my long commute and 2 hours of daily audiobook listening that it provides, I have only listened to a few books–the rest I have read. It affects lists making in a bad way!

Six books I started in the first six months of the year and was still caught up in July

Age of Desire

Makioka Sisters

Invisible Women

I am enjoying each of these. Invisible Women I’m reading for work with two colleagues. Makioka Sisters I am loving, but it isn’t on my Kindle and that’s what I’ve been reading! The same is true of Age of Desire–it’s a paperback. I forget about it.

Six From the Non-Fiction Shelf

Castle in Wartime

Pioneers

Syria’s Secret Library

Hidden Valley Road

The Greater Journey: Americans in Paris

Travel Light, Move Fast

Six books I have read on my Kindle

My reading on Kindle EXPLODED this year! Nearly everything I’ve read, and not listened to, was on my Kindle.

The Guest List

Jane Austen Society

Second Chance Boutique

Bright As Heaven

In a Field of Blue

The Likely Resolutions of Oliver Clock

Six books from authors I know will never let me down

Mary McCarthy

Barbara Pym

David McCullough 1

Daphne DuMaurier

Anne Tyler

Anne de Courcy

Two Categories Combined to Equal Six Books

Six Three Cool Classics and

Groves of Academe

Age of Innocence

Miss Pettigrew Lives for the Day

Six Three books I abandoned

The Queen’s Secret

My Coney Island Baby

The Green Road

Six books I must mention that don’t fit nicely into any category

Dear Committee Member
Red Notebook
Derby Day
Sweet Bean Paste
Sacrament
Lady in Waiting

This post is somehow corrupted. I fixed it yesterday, but it is back. I can’t make these links look the same as the others, but I’m sure you really don’t mind!

Six in Six–2019 Edition

“The idea being that as the end of June approaches and we are then halfway through the year,  let us share the books we have read in those first 6 months. In fact let’s share 6 books in 6 categories, or if time is of the essence then simply share just 6 books. Whatever combination works for you as long as it involves 6 books. Of course the same book can obviously feature in more than one category.” Six in Six is hosted by The Book Jotter. You can read more about it here.

This week’s posts may seem a bit repetitive. Sorry!

Six in Six for 2017

six-in-six.png

Well, I’ve left it to the 11th hour and almost the 59th minute, but it is still July where I live! Time for the Six in Six!

What is it all about?

The idea being that as the end of June approaches and we are then halfway through the year,  let us share the books we have read in those first 6 months. In fact let’s share 6 books in 6 categories, or if time is of the essence then simply share just 6 books. Whatever combination works for you as long as it involves 6 books. Of course the same book can obviously feature in more than one category. Read more about this meme, including the categories at The Book Jotter’s The Sixth in Six–2017 Edition post. (Italicized text above is from the linked post by Book Jotter).

For your enjoyment, I’ve tried to use as many unique titles as possible from my reading list.

6 Books By Authors New to Me That I Really Enjoyed

But wait! There’s more….books that disappointed! 3 Books I’ve Thrown Back in 2017.

6 Books From The Nonfiction Shelf

6 Books I Read in Hardcover or Paperback –not Kindle or Audio

6  10 Books That Didn’t Make it Into Other Categories
