Book Week Scotland has GREAT book lists:
Humorous Fiction from Scottish Writers
And many, many more great book lists for all ages (not all of which are Scottish).
Here is another good list from The BBC.
Wikipedia’s list of Scottish novelists.
Here are two of my own suggestions:
Two books set in Scotland, written by Scottish authors. Both are set in Edinburgh.
Alexander McCall Smith writes two of my favorite series–44 Scotland Street and the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency. He has a few others as well. This is a fun, light read–as are all of his books.
Muriel Spark’s books are often very short. The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie is is set in a girls’ school in the 1930s. Maggie Smith of Harry Potter and Downton Abbey fame is the best known person to have portrayed Miss Brodie.
Oh my gosh, another reading event in November. It’s getting so crowded !
Just read an article in the Sunday Times (I know, it takes me this long to read it) where one publisher said No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency probably wouldn;t be published now because of concerns about cultural appropriation. White Scottish male writing a novel with a central character of black Botswana women……

Very true–and pathetic. It’s wonderful and I’ve lived in Malawi and have a whole lot of clues about Botswana. Cultural justice warriors need to stand down and grow up and learn

This sounds like fun! I don’t actually do readathons, but I’m always interested in seeing other people’s reading lists.

That’s a perfect way to enjoy a readathon. Normally I’m not into them, but this year they have been just what I needed.
