I like to look back and see what I said I might read and discover if I’ve read any, all, or some of those books.
2023 Didn’t Get To Books
1
I don’t think this has been released in the USA which is a shame. I’ve loved the other two books by her that I’ve read.
A Complicated Matter by Anne Youngson
2
I loved her earlier book, The Gown.
Coronation Year: A Novel by Jennifer Robson
3
I liked her earlier book, A Woman is No Man.
Evil Eye: A Novel by Etaf Rum
4
That word….”stories…” it stops me so often.
So Late in the Day by Claire Keegan
5
I love Julie Murphy’s books, but somehow FORGOT about this one in my Christmas reading fever.
Holly Jolly Ever After: A Novel by Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone
6
A Thousand Miles to Graceland: A Novel by Kristen Mei Chase
7
I loved his book, Back Bay years ago.
8
I’ve been wanting a Dick/Felix horseracing thriller, but Christmas books got in the way.
No Reserve: A Dick Francis Novel by Felix Francis
9
How did I let Zadie Smith slip through the reading cracks?
The Fraud: A Novel by Zadie Smith
10
And I missed Beth O’Leary, too. Maybe I was still a little leery after Road Trip? (Sorry, pun intended)
The Wake Up Call: A Novel by Beth O’Leary
I hope you can enjoy them soon.https://wordsandpeace.com/2024/01/23/top-ten-books-i-meant-to-read-in-2023-but-didnt-get-to/

I love Beth O’Leary. I need to put her books that I haven’t read at the top of my TBR since I know I’ll love them. I hope you’re able to get to these this year.

A lot of people didn’t like Road Trip by here, but I’m hoping that’s a one-time baddie. I loved Flat Share and the Switch.

The Christmas-y book can just go to this coming Christmas season 😉 I keep trying to get my to-read list on Goodreads under 120. Unsuccessfully … but I guess that’s how many books I am meaning to read this year 🙂

My Goodreads TBR is at about 3,000! lol…. I can’t ever remember authors or titles when I get ready to read something new. I delete stuff every year. I never see it as a “to do” list. I just read.

I loved The Gown! I hope you enjoy her new one! The “stories” in the new Keegan are too dreary for my taste but she’s a great writer. I decided to skip the new O’Leary after DNFing Road Trip!

I’m still worried about the O’Leary. I realize you have your whole life to write your first big book and get it perfect. When it sells millions the pressure to keep producing material of that level must be awful.

It just had such a different tone.

These all look good. I especially want to read A Thousand Miles to Graceland. Looks like fun. I hope you have a chance to read your books and enjoy them.

PLEASE don’t let the word “stories” keep you from reading Keegan. If nothing else, read the titular story, and then decide. She’s such a marvelous writer, I’m sure it will pull you in!

Good to hear–I’ll keep it in mind.

This reminds me that The Gown was one I intended to read years ago, and still haven’t! I guess I need to add Coronation Year to my reading plans as well. I liked the Beth O’Leary book, maybe not quite as much as some of her others, but still very enjoyable.

The Gown was really good.

I read the Clare Keegan book, but it was very depressing, not my favourite. I haven’t read that O’Leary book yet either. Enjoy them whenever you get to them, Lisa.

Great list! I hope you love them all whenever you have the time to read them. Most of these are new-to-me, but they sound pretty interesting.

I did read The Wake-Up Call last fall and I really enjoyed it. But I also enjoyed The Road Trip. I hope you get to pick up some of these soon!
